How to Get Your eSIM

  1. Pick Your UK Data Plan
Choose from 1GB to unlimited options based on your trip length. A 3-5 day Tower visit plus London exploration pairs well with a 5GB plan — enough for maps, tickets, and sharing photos of the Crown Jewels.
  2. Install Over WiFi Before Your Flight
Download the eSIM profile at home or your departure lounge. The entire setup takes under 5 minutes and requires no physical card swap.
  3. Activate After Landing at Heathrow or Gatwick
Once your aircraft reaches the gate and you switch off airplane mode, your UK data connects automatically. By the time you clear immigration, Google Maps is already routing you to the Elizabeth line.
  4. Keep Your Home SIM for Calls
Your phone runs both SIMs simultaneously — eSIMno handles all internet tasks while your home number receives calls and texts without roaming charges piling up.
  5. Arrive at the Tower Ready to Scan
Your timed-entry confirmation, the Historic Royal Palaces booking email, and real-time Jewel House queue updates all load instantly at the Middle Tower gate.

Traveler Tips

  • Arrive at 09:00 opening on Tuesday-Thursday to beat the Crown Jewels queue — by 10:30 the wait stretches past 45 minutes.
  • Yeoman Warder tours depart every 30 minutes from near the Middle Tower and last about an hour; check the day's schedule on Historic Royal Palaces' site before you enter.
  • Photography is banned inside the Jewel House — get your shots of the White Tower exterior and Tower Green instead.
  • Download offline maps of the Tower Hill area before your visit in case signal dips inside the thick-walled Norman chapel.
  • Set your phone to dual-SIM mode so incoming calls reach your home number while eSIMno handles all data tasks.
  • Top up your Oyster or tap your contactless card at Tower Hill station (District and Circle lines) — a single ride runs around £2.80 depending on zone and time.

Why Data Matters at the Tower of London

The Tower of London packs a lot of ground into a single visit — the White Tower armoury, the Jewel House moving walkway, the Bloody Tower prison cells, Tower Green, and the Chapel Royal. Without data, you're navigating blind between them. With an eSIMno plan for the Tower of London, your phone pulls up the Historic Royal Palaces interactive map the moment you pass through the Middle Tower, and real-time Jewel House wait estimates help you time your approach to the Crown Jewels.

Timed-entry tickets from Historic Royal Palaces arrive as QR codes in your email — the gate scanner reads them directly from your screen. If you've booked the Ceremony of the Keys (the nightly lock-up ritual, free but ballot-only), that confirmation also lives on your phone. Group messaging apps like WhatsApp keep your party synced when half of you linger in the Line of Kings while the others hunt for the ravens near the South Lawn.

Getting There and Getting Home

Tower Hill station sits a 5-minute walk from the main entrance, served by the District and Circle lines. From Heathrow, the Elizabeth line runs to Liverpool Street in around 45 minutes; switch to the Circle line eastbound for two stops. Thames Clippers river boats stop at Tower Pier directly outside the fortress walls — the River Bus app shows live departure times and lets you tap to pay onboard. After your visit, rideshare apps like Uber and Bolt pinpoint pickup zones on Tower Hill, and real-time traffic routing beats the post-afternoon rush toward King's Cross or Paddington.

Visiting the Tower of London

The Tower opens daily, with hours running 09:00-17:30 from March through October and 09:00-16:30 from November through February (Sundays and Mondays open at 10:00). Last admission is 30 minutes before closing. The complex closes on 24-26 December and 1 January.

Standard adult admission runs around £35 when booked online in advance; children 5-15, students, and seniors receive discounts, and under-5s enter free. Historic Royal Palaces membership (around £65/year) grants unlimited entry. Yeoman Warder tours are included in the ticket price — no separate booking required.

What to Expect Inside

Allow 3-4 hours for a thorough visit. The Jewel House queue moves steadily thanks to the moving walkway past the regalia, but weekday mornings before 10:00 remain the fastest window. Photography is prohibited inside the Jewel House and the Chapel Royal; flash and tripods are banned in the Chapel of St John. Comfortable walking shoes help on the uneven cobblestones throughout the inner ward.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Install the eSIM profile at home over WiFi before your flight. Once your aircraft reaches the gate at Heathrow or Gatwick and you switch off airplane mode, your UK data connects automatically — by the time you're tapping through the turnstile at Tower Hill station, your phone is already pulling directions to the Middle Tower entrance.
Cellular coverage holds strong across the open courtyards, Tower Green, and most of the White Tower interior. The Chapel of St John — a small Norman chapel with tunnel-vaulted stone ceilings dating to around 1080 — can briefly dim signal. Download an offline map of the Tower Hill area before your visit as a backup for those few moments.
Your eSIMno plan covers the entire United Kingdom, not just this single landmark. The same data keeps working on the District line back to your hotel, across Tower Bridge to HMS Belfast, on a train to Edinburgh, or anywhere else in Britain — one purchase, nationwide coverage.
The Elizabeth line runs from Heathrow to Liverpool Street in around 45 minutes. Switch to the Circle line eastbound for two stops to Tower Hill station, a 5-minute walk from the main entrance. Timed-entry tickets from Historic Royal Palaces arrive as QR codes in your email — the gate scanner reads them directly from your phone screen. Having reliable data means that confirmation loads instantly at the Middle Tower, plus you can check real-time Jewel House queue estimates before joining the line.
Your phone runs both SIMs simultaneously in dual-SIM mode. eSIMno handles all internet tasks — maps, tickets, messaging, rideshare apps — while your home SIM stays active for incoming calls and texts. Avoid placing outgoing voice calls through your home carrier to skip roaming charges; use WhatsApp or FaceTime calls over your eSIM data instead.

Seamless global eSIM coverage

Get Started
The Tower of London draws visitors into nearly a thousand years of royal history — but that timed-entry ticket lives on your phone, and the Yeoman Warder tour schedule updates throughout the day. An eSIM installed before you leave home means your confirmation email loads instantly at the Middle Tower gate, no fumbling with airport SIM kiosks or spotty venue WiFi. Inside the fortress complex, cellular signal holds steady across the open courtyards and the White Tower interior, though the thick Norman stone walls of the Chapel of St John can dim reception briefly. Having reliable data lets you pull up the interactive map, check Jewel House wait times in real time, and message your group when you split up to explore the Bloody Tower separately. Your eSIMno plan covers the entire UK, not just this single landmark. After the ravens and the regalia, the same data keeps working on the District line back to your hotel, across Tower Bridge to HMS Belfast, or on a train to Edinburgh for the next leg of your trip. One purchase, nationwide coverage, zero mid-trip top-ups.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Find helpful information to answer your questions

What data plans are available for the United-kingdom eSIM?
eSIMno provides various data plans ranging from 1 GB to unlimited data, with options from 7 days to 90 days of service. Plans also include regional and lifetime options for travelers who want flexibility across multiple destinations.
Will I get notifications when my data is running low?
Yes. eSIMno sends email and push notifications when you've used 50%, 80%, and 100% of your data allowance. You can also check usage anytime in the eSIMno Center or in your phone's cellular settings to track consumption in real time.
What happens when my data plan runs out?
When you use up your data allowance, your connection stops until you top up or purchase a new plan. You can top up directly from the eSIMno Center while connected to Wi-Fi, or buy a new plan if your validity period has expired.
Can I use the eSIM on more than one device?
Each eSIM profile is tied to a single device once activated. If you need data on multiple devices (e.g., phone and tablet), you can either purchase separate eSIMs for each device or use the Personal Hotspot feature on your phone to share data with other devices.
Can I use the eSIM to make video calls?
Yes - apps like FaceTime, WhatsApp, Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams all work over your eSIM data. Video calls use about 200-400 MB per hour depending on quality, so factor that into your plan choice if you make long calls regularly.
Can I install my eSIM before traveling?
Yes - setting it up before your trip is the easiest approach. Your confirmation email contains the QR code, a one-tap install link and the manual SM-DP+ / activation codes (the same options are also available via sign in > Profile > My eSIMs > Install). While on Wi-Fi at home, install it with the one-tap link on your phone, or - to use the QR - show it on another screen or a printout and scan it with the phone you are setting up (not another phone). Installing does not start your plan: the validity countdown only begins when the eSIM connects to a mobile network inside your plan's coverage area. Keep the eSIM line and its Data Roaming off until you are ready to start - if your plan covers the country you are in right now, turning the line on connects and starts the countdown immediately, even if you do not browse anything. Please note: once installed, an eSIM is considered used and is no longer eligible for a refund.
How can I purchase the United-kingdom eSIM?
You can purchase your eSIM directly from the eSIMno website - select a United-kingdom plan and complete the payment. Within minutes you'll receive an order confirmation email that contains everything you need to install: a QR code, a one-tap install link, the SM-DP+ address and activation code, plus an "Install eSIM" button. You can install straight from that email, or sign in anytime and go to Profile > My eSIMs > Install to get the same options.
Can I share data from my eSIM with someone else's phone?
Yes, through Personal Hotspot. Activate hotspot on your phone, share the password, and the other device connects to your data. Data used by connected devices counts toward your eSIM plan, so monitor usage to avoid running out faster than expected.
What should I do if I lose my activation QR code?
You can't really lose it - your QR code is in your order confirmation email, and also in the install pop-up on the website. To reopen it any time before activation, tap "Install eSIM" in your order email, or sign in at esimno.com and go to Profile > My eSIMs > Install. Both show the QR code together with the one-tap install link and the manual SM-DP+ / activation code. Note the install codes are one-time-use: once the eSIM is installed on a device they can't be reused - reopen the installer (My eSIMs > Install) to display a fresh QR if you need one.
Is the eSIM connection secure?
eSIM connections are as secure as standard cellular connections - encrypted by the carrier network. For added security on public networks (cafes, airports), use a VPN. The eSIM profile itself is digitally signed and can't be cloned like a physical SIM.
What smartphones support eSIM?
Most modern devices support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 through S25 series, Google Pixel 4 and later, Huawei P40 and later, and many recent iPads. Check our full compatibility list before purchasing to confirm your device is supported.
Can I install multiple eSIMs on the same phone?
Yes. Modern iPhones and Android devices support multiple eSIM profiles - typically 5 to 8 stored profiles, with 1 or 2 active simultaneously. You can install eSIMs for different countries and switch between them in settings without removing any.
