How to Get Your eSIM

  1. Pick Your USA Data Plan
Choose a data allowance that fits your LA stay—3 GB covers a long weekend of maps, rideshare, and social media; 10 GB+ handles video calls, hotspot tethering, and a road trip down the Pacific Coast Highway.
  2. Install at Home Before Takeoff
Scan the QR code over your home WiFi and add the eSIM profile to your phone. The whole process takes under 3 minutes on iPhone or Android—no physical SIM swap, no tools.
  3. Keep Airplane Mode On During the Flight
Your eSIM sits dormant until you switch it on. Relax through the transpacific or cross-country leg knowing setup is already done.
  4. Activate When You Reach the Gate at LAX
Once the captain clears phone use, switch off airplane mode and set your eSIM line as the data source. Your phone connects to AT&T or Verizon within seconds—faster than the seatbelt sign turns off.
  5. Navigate the Terminal With Live Data
Pull up the LAX official app for real-time gate changes, message your ride, check FlyAway or Metro K Line schedules, and walk out of TBIT with directions already loaded.

Traveler Tips

  • Rideshare pickups happen at the LAX-it lot east of Terminal 1—take the free green shuttle from your terminal's lower level; the ride takes 3-5 minutes and the shuttle runs every 4 minutes 24/7.
  • CBP wait times peak 12:00-16:00 and 21:00-23:00; having Mobile Passport Control or Global Entry on your phone before landing shaves 30-60 minutes off the queue.
  • Keep your home SIM active in dual-SIM mode—incoming calls and SMS reach you normally while eSIMno handles all data, maps, and internet calls via WhatsApp or FaceTime.
  • The FlyAway bus to Union Station departs from the lower level outside TBIT every 30 minutes, takes 35-60 minutes depending on traffic, and accepts contactless payment—real-time arrival boards load in Google Maps.
  • Terminal connectors run airside between Terminals 3-TBIT and 4-TBIT; for all other inter-terminal moves you'll exit security and re-screen, so allow 20-25 minutes and use live data to check TSA wait times.

Why You Need an eSIM at LAX

LAX's nine-terminal horseshoe plus the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) spreads across 3,500 acres—enough space to lose signal, lose patience, and lose time if you're depending on crowded airport WiFi. The free network requires registration that stalls jet-lagged arrivals, and coverage drops inside the immigration hall when you need it most. An eSIMno plan for LAX sidesteps the friction entirely: your phone grabs AT&T or Verizon the moment you switch off airplane mode, and the connection follows you from the gate to customs to the LAX-it rideshare lot.

Data tasks stack quickly after touchdown. You'll pull up the United or Delta app for last-minute gate swaps, load Google Maps to walk the connector between Terminal 4 and TBIT (about 10 minutes via the airside bridge), and message whoever's picking you up with a live ETA. At LAX-it, you'll check Uber and Lyft surge pricing before committing—the lot handles 25,000 daily pickups and wait times swing from 5 to 25 minutes depending on the hour. FlyAway bus schedules, Metro K Line connections at the Airport Metro Connector station, and rental-car shuttle tracking all need consistent data.

The coverage extends far past the airport. Same eSIM works on the 405 to Santa Monica, at Dodger Stadium on game night, through the subway tunnels downtown, and across 50 states if your trip continues to San Francisco, Vegas, or New York. One plan, one QR code, zero roaming toggles.

Visiting LAX

International arrivals clear CBP in TBIT—budget 45-90 minutes during peak banks. Domestic connections through separated terminals (e.g., Terminal 1 to Terminal 7) require exiting security, taking the LAX Shuttle A or walking the upper-level sidewalks (15-20 minutes), and re-screening via TSA. Minimum recommended connection time: 90 minutes domestic-to-domestic, 2.5-3 hours international-to-domestic.

Ground transport options fan out from the lower level. Taxis depart from marked islands outside each terminal; flat fare to Downtown LA runs around $50 plus a $4 LAX surcharge. Metro K Line access opens via a shuttle to the Airport Metro Connector station (phase-in ongoing), with single rides around $2 on a TAP card and travel time to 7th Street/Metro Center around 60-75 minutes including transfers. Rental-car shuttles loop to off-site lots until the Consolidated Rent-A-Car facility opens.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Install the profile at home over WiFi before your flight, then switch it on after landing—by the time you're walking the connector between Terminal 4 and TBIT, your phone is already pulling Maps directions and gate updates.

Yes. Set your phone to dual-SIM mode with eSIMno handling data and your home SIM staying active for incoming calls and SMS. Outgoing calls work best over WhatsApp or FaceTime using your eSIM data—this avoids home-network roaming charges.

The FlyAway bus departs from the TBIT lower level every 30 minutes and reaches Union Station in 35-60 minutes depending on traffic. Alternatively, the Metro K Line connects at the Airport Metro Connector station—real-time schedules load in Google Maps once your data is active.

Absolutely. The same plan covers AT&T and Verizon networks across all 50 states—use it at Venice Beach, drive up to San Francisco, fly onward to Chicago or Miami. No roaming toggle, no extra purchase.

Airside connectors link Terminals 3-TBIT and 4-TBIT without re-screening. All other moves (e.g., Terminal 1 to Terminal 7) require exiting, taking Shuttle A, and clearing TSA again—allow 20-25 minutes and use live data to check checkpoint wait times.

A 3 GB plan handles a long weekend of maps, rideshare, social media, and messaging. If you're hotspotting a laptop for work calls or streaming video, consider 10 GB or higher.

Seamless global eSIM coverage

Get Started
Los Angeles International Airport handles over 70 million passengers annually across nine terminals in the Central Terminal Area horseshoe plus the Tom Bradley International Terminal. The moment your plane reaches the gate, you'll want working data for the LAX-it rideshare lot shuttle, real-time gate changes on the official apps, and directions through the terminal connectors. Installing your eSIM before departure means your phone connects to AT&T or Verizon the instant you power off airplane mode—no hunting for the WiFi portal while customs queues build. LAX arrivals face a multi-step exit flow: CBP processing in TBIT (budget 45-90 minutes during peak banks around midday and late evening), baggage claim, re-screening if connecting domestically through separated terminals, and finally the walk or shuttle to LAX-it for Uber and Lyft pickups. Each step runs smoother with live data—group chat with whoever's collecting you, surge-pricing checks before committing to a ride, Metro K Line schedules loading in Google Maps. Your eSIMno plan keeps working far beyond the airport perimeter. Head down the 405 to Venice Beach, cut east to Downtown LA, or fly onward to San Francisco, Chicago, or Miami—same plan, same coverage, no roaming toggle. Buy once, use across all 50 states.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Find helpful information to answer your questions

How do I delete an eSIM I no longer need?
On iPhone: Settings > Cellular > tap the eSIM line > Remove eSIM. On Android: Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > tap the eSIM > Erase. Deleting the eSIM frees up a profile slot. Make sure you don't need it anymore - once deleted, you can't reinstall the same profile.
Can I use my SIM card and eSIM at the same time?
Yes. On dual-SIM devices (most modern iPhones and Android phones), you can run your physical SIM and the eSIM simultaneously. Use your home SIM for calls and SMS, and the eSIM for mobile data. Keep in mind that leaving your home SIM active may trigger roaming charges if you use it for calls or texts abroad.
Will I get notifications when my data is running low?
Yes. eSIMno sends email and push notifications when you've used 50%, 80%, and 100% of your data allowance. You can also check usage anytime in the eSIMno Center or in your phone's cellular settings to track consumption in real time.
Is the eSIM connection secure?
eSIM connections are as secure as standard cellular connections - encrypted by the carrier network. For added security on public networks (cafes, airports), use a VPN. The eSIM profile itself is digitally signed and can't be cloned like a physical SIM.
Do I need to remove my eSIM after my trip?
You don't have to remove it. Once your data plan expires, the eSIM simply stops providing data. You can leave the dormant profile on your phone and reuse it next time by purchasing a new plan, or delete it from cellular settings to free up an eSIM slot.
How can I verify if my eSIM is activated?
There are two clear indicators: (1) your phone's status bar shows the local carrier name once you arrive at your destination, and (2) the data icon (4G, LTE, or 5G) appears next to the eSIMno line in your cellular settings. If neither shows up, toggle airplane mode off and on, or restart your phone.
What should I do if I lose my activation QR code?
You can't really lose it - your QR code is in your order confirmation email, and also in the install pop-up on the website. To reopen it any time before activation, tap "Install eSIM" in your order email, or sign in at esimno.com and go to Profile > My eSIMs > Install. Both show the QR code together with the one-tap install link and the manual SM-DP+ / activation code. Note the install codes are one-time-use: once the eSIM is installed on a device they can't be reused - reopen the installer (My eSIMs > Install) to display a fresh QR if you need one.
Will the eSIM affect my phone's battery life?
Running two SIM lines (physical + eSIM) uses slightly more battery than one, since the phone monitors both networks. The difference is usually 5-10% over a full day. To minimize impact, disable the line you're not actively using or turn off cellular data on the inactive line.
Can I buy an eSIM for someone else as a gift?
Yes. Purchase the eSIM with your own details, then forward your order confirmation email - or share the "Install eSIM" link from it - with the recipient so they can install it on their own phone (the email contains the QR code and the manual SM-DP+ / activation codes). Make sure their device is eSIM-compatible first - installation usually cannot be reversed once completed.
Will my eSIM work in airports immediately after landing?
Yes - eSIMs typically connect within seconds of switching off airplane mode at the gate. Major airports have strong cellular coverage from local partner networks, so you'll have data before reaching baggage claim. No setup needed at arrival.
Can I use the eSIM on more than one device?
Each eSIM profile is tied to a single device once activated. If you need data on multiple devices (e.g., phone and tablet), you can either purchase separate eSIMs for each device or use the Personal Hotspot feature on your phone to share data with other devices.
Can I extend my eSIM plan validity?
The validity of a package that is already running cannot be extended, but you can top up: a top-up adds a new package with its own data AND its own validity days. Packages run one at a time - the top-up waits in queue and activates automatically when your current package ends (data used up or days expired), and its own days start counting from that moment. In practice this keeps you connected longer, even though the current package's own end date does not move.
